Originally known as ‘P3’, founded by Alice Palmer, Georgia Pricone and Madeleine Palmer, Rich and Strange has emerged as an alliance between artists whose practice encompasses the ability to work from life, or create work to a very high technical level. The collective was founded to support these practices directly, and has never charged commission on over $450k sales to date. As a strong financial support, it champions artists in particular whose practice is not as commercially viable as faster methods of production.

Rich and Strange has maintained a presence at the Affordable Art Fair in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and is seeking opportunities to collaborate always. Taking its name from Ariel’s song in the Tempest, Rich and Strange is a focus on the human and the analogue, the strangeness of being and the world around us.

Our focus is on technique above all other considerations; overlaps between the worlds of technical artistry, and the tension in-between art practices that approach painting from life with very different vocabularies- the ‘painter’s painters’.
